Pictures up!

Here: Christmas in Maine.

They range from cheerful cheesy shots

to gory, gory nature red in beak and talon shots..

to the documentation of vastly stupid activities (deciding to burn the Christmas tree out on the lawn: fantastically fun)

Enjoy! I'm busy cleaning the house and dying of jetlag, but will be up and posting soon. It's hateful being back. I feel more at home there than I do here, which seems odd. Maybe I should move out there. What the hell.

Happy New Year, fretmarketeers! x

Great photos, P! Such a beautiful, pale red-tail - definitely one to nick for the screensaver. Thx

I have often thought it would be better to have bonfire night after Christmas instead of in November.

indioglyph: she's a beauty, isn't she. And scarily proficient in the field. Scott should definitely intermew this one.

Tristram: it was a gloriously pagan affair, marred only by the worry that Kennebunk fire department would appear at any moment. Erin and I had no idea the tree would burn with flames *quite* that high...

When Betsy Huntington was alive we used to burn the tree on New year's. BIG flames.

Maine is the only New England state that still makes me feel nostalgia, and the only eastern state I'd live in (again).

Wonderful photos---loved especially the domestic images, food, tables, scenes through the windows. Looks like a fantastic Christmas locale.

(PS: Great-looking RT----tho you might tell your friends that a slingshot is a lot safer than climbing icy trees to flush squirrels...!)

Oh and yes---please move to the States!

Hey there.....
Dangerous tree-climber here, checking in to say that I'd like to make this my official vote for you moving over here permanently. It was so nice seeing you again. It had been much too long. Erin and I had a fantastic day out with both redtails yesterday.... Yoder is running up an impressive score. Talk to you later, Scott

Great shot of the burning tree. Simultaneously heart warming and apocalyptic!
