Pops!

Dad's memorial is tomorrow, and my address is neeeearly finished. Last minute, as usual. Slightly unnerved that I'll be speaking with Alastair Campbell, but hey. It's going to be an extraordinary occasion: a big service at St. Bride's, in Fleet Street, and then the Press Club afterwards for a big knees-up. A proper goodbye.

Picture #3 is one of the best family portraits I've ever seen.

Taken by my brother, bless him. I'm looking at a bunch of long-tailed ducks/oldsquaw displaying on the lake.

The top one is Iceland -- he went there with the Apollo 14 boys in 1969. There's a great shot of him looking frozen and hungover in a parka, trying to get the lid off a tin of alka-seltzer. Methinks the astronauts were fairly hard-drinking chaps...

Sharing stories is short term heartbreaking but long term healing.

Lovely photos. One of the most touching moments in "H is for Hawk" was at the memorial when the novice photographer said that your father really helped him. I'm tearing up just thinking about it now.
